Journal's description
The journal combines two thematic areas: bioethics and anthropology. It investigates the intellectual heritage of both the West and the East. Man belongs to the world of nature, but exceeds this world by creating his own culture. The development of biomedical sciences encourages us to constant reflection upon our understanding of the human being. We dream of the discovery of the primary principle of life inherent to each living body. We do not know whether this is possible, but we want it. We imagine that, if we were finally to discover it, out understanding of the natural world and ourselves would finally be accurate and medical therapies would then become truly effective. Paracelsus gave the name ARCHEUS to this hypothetical primary principle of life. Hence the title of the volume. We invite the co-operation of philosophers, bioethicians, physicians and those who undertake the difficulty of understanding human nature.
